Andrew Hamilton: frank o’hara on the phone piece (2003)
Andrew Hamilton: music for people who like art (2018)
alongside new works by Oxford student composers.
This is a special opportunity to engage with the wonderfully quirky, fascinatingly communicative work of Dublin-born composer, Andrew Hamilton, which has come to prominence in recent years through his memorable collaborations with the Crash Ensemble and groups such as EXAUDI. A predominantly minimalist composer with a direct line to composers such as Kevin Volans, Louis Andriessen and Morton Feldman, Hamilton describes his compositional process as ‘taking small fragments of musical material and observing them from every angle, as though looking at a 3D model’.
