1980-2025 – 45 years of virtuoso guitar classics!

The Rotenbek Trio has been in existence since 1980 and is probably one of the most enduring professional guitar trios in the world. The program title Roaming Guitars describes the roaming through many eras up to the present day.

The artists invite their audience on a multifaceted journey with virtuoso chamber music. This includes compositions from the Renaissance such as those by the lutenist John Dowland – a friend of Shakespeare – as well as contemporary pieces by Dyens and Chadwick.

Heike Krugmann (Hamburg) and Peter Lohse (Kiel) are founding members, Karin Aigner (Vienna) joined the ensemble five years ago. The musicians completed their master‘s degree in classical guitar at the Lübeck University of Music.

Hundreds of concerts have been played over the years. The Rotenbek Trio has released six CDs to date. The 45th anniversary provides a welcome opportunity to play a best of of pieces during this jubilee year, many of which are also included on the CDs.
